Joins IBM PartnerWorld Industry Networks to Deliver On Demand Solutions that Accelerate Data Security and Data Governance Initiatives

WALTHAM, MA – December 21, 2006 – Guardium, the database security company, today announced that it has achieved Advanced Industry-Optimized status for the Financial Markets industry, within IBM’s PartnerWorld Industry Networks. The new status enables Guardium to leverage IBM’s sales, marketing, and technical expertise to better meet customer needs, bring innovation to IBM clients, and drive increased revenue for both companies.

Since 2005, Guardium has also been a member of the Data Governance Council, a group of leading companies, institutions and technology providers working with IBM to address data governance challenges and explore solutions as they relate to security, privacy, trust, and corporate compliance issues.

Guardium’s appliance-based platform helps customers accelerate data governance initiatives by providing a scalable, enterprise-wide solution for governing access to sensitive data, enforcing change controls, and reducing compliance costs via automated auditing and reporting.

Guardium achieved Advanced Industry Optimized status by demonstrating successful customer implementations in the financial services industry. Guardium solutions are being used to provide real-time database security and automated auditing for clients such as:

  • A global financial services company with four geographically-distributed data centers managed by IBM Global Services. Guardium’s database activity monitoring solution protects more than 100 critical databases, including IBM DB2 and Informix systems as well as non-IBM platforms such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, and Sybase.
  • A major insurance company with more than 80 critical databases in two separate data centers. The Guardium solution is monitoring IBM DB2 as well as Oracle and Microsoft systems.

“We’ve created a practical, network-resident approach for controlling access to distributed data repositories and managing operational risk without impacting ongoing business processes,” said Ron Ben-Natan, Ph.D., Guardium’s CTO and an IBM Gold Consultant. “Guardium and IBM, working together, can transform companies’ data governance approaches from periodic manual audits to unified processes that continuously monitor all database activity in real-time in order to protect the integrity of corporate information assets.”

Guardium’s enterprise architecture dramatically simplifies data governance by centralizing policy management and compliance auditing across disparate database platforms, enterprise SOA applications (Oracle, PeopleSoft, SAP, etc.), geographical locations, and initiatives (SOX, GLBA, Basel II, PCI, etc.). Guardium’s technology supports all major IBM database platforms on all major OS platforms (UNIX, Linux, z/OS, and Windows).

“One of the biggest problems for organizations is how to manage and control all of the critical data that resides within a company, especially as more companies do business online, extending into large data supply chains,” said Steven Adler, chair of the Data Governance Council and program director, IBM Data Governance Solutions. “There is a clear need for innovative solutions and governance models to protect data on different levels. We’re pleased to be working with Guardium to deliver open, end-to-end, On Demand solutions that bring this type of innovation to life for our clients.”
